Walking around on the West Side...
Welcome to
PtownNet.org
It's kinda like an expanded Blog, in that I record not only my thoughts
but the thoughts (News/Politics/Etc.) of others,
in an attempt to chronicle my travels through life.
Ever wonder where that News Article you read disappeared to within your computer?
How about that thought/hint/comment/insight on
...just about anything?
So here I record my thoughts in an Online Forum fashion,
or in a repository for news articles I must somehow take note of...
Shoot...if what you saw or read resonated with you,
you are invited to add your input.
All you have to do is ask for a "Membership"
which is (of course) free.
I restrict access to the site only to prevent Web-Bots and Spam
from creating their own memberships, but....
If you want to come play w/ me...have at it!
It would be great to share all this...
as my host for P-TownNet gives me 100 email addresses I can dole out
and over 100 MB's to play with.
Just for Shits&Giggles...
would you like your own webspace?
free of restrictions and censorship?
a personal venue to present yourself to the World?
Ptownnet just might be your new home.
...and all for free...
Below is the original introduction for the site...
Sadly...that idea seemingly died for lack of interest...
Welcome to
PtownNet.org
...and my idea of what a local-focused networking Website should look like!
At this moment this is still very much a website in progress.
(I'm a Carpenter and doing this solo for now, after all!)
It might be only a few weeks before it is online. It might be a good while longer.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm trying to make the site comfortable, as in "a little bit of home."
A user-friendly place to hang your hat and share stuff, etc..
Finally, I'd do my part in combating the "Internet Isolation Syndrome."
Here we will call each other by name, and not some handle.
It is my intention to make real-time friends and comrades,
folks you live near and have no problem inviting into your home,
for that is the ultimate goal of the site: to get people together, face to face.
That is what a local networking organization is all about, eh?
So in the final introduction page we'll offer something like:
"A Website created with the idea of fostering
a Local Networking Community in Petaluma."
But lots of input is required before the thing comes online and open to the public.
Lots of HTML/CMS...Lots of organizational stuff...and I realize that I could use a metaphorical hand.
The mainmenu needs some kind of artistic enhancement.
I have no pblm w/ adding content...but I am having conceptual problems dividing up the different categories and interest areas.
Then there is the display and structure of the menus...
I'm looking at all kinds of sites, to get an idea of what to do and how to set things up.
Eventually, a very personal and local form of Networking is what I envisioned.
People connecting with people!
I hope that after visiting, you are inspired to offer thoughts and observations.
(That is why we have a feedback button...)
Any creative input will be duly recognized.
